Filmic Remote v3 has been rebranded as Remote Legacy, while Filmic Remote v4 is now integrated directly into Filmic Pro v7.5.

Remote Legacy is specifically designed for use with Filmic Pro v7.4.2 and earlier versions, including Filmic Legacy. Its purpose is to provide wireless control and monitoring capabilities for your Filmic Pro experience. With the use of spare iOS devices, Filmic Remote becomes an essential tool in your production process.

Remote v3 offers three distinct modes of capability: Control, Monitor, and Director.

In Control mode, users can leverage the familiar Filmic Pro interface to have complete remote camera control. This proves useful in scenarios where cameras are placed in hard-to-reach locations, such as sliders, jib arms, car mounts, microphone stands, or other compelling live event camera placements. Users can configure their Filmic Pro device and then control all settings and recordings through the Remote. This includes functions like starting/stopping recordings, focusing/exposure reticle placement and locking, dual arc slider manual controls for focus and exposure, pull-to-point focus and exposure pulls, as well as creating and loading Filmic Pro presets from the Remote.

In Monitor mode, Remote Legacy offers cinema production capabilities at a fraction of the cost. It provides a four-up display that includes several powerful analytics features:

• Video preview: Offers a reference video for use with the analytics screens.
• Waveform monitor: Visually identifies signal brightness segmented from left to right across a video feed. When used in conjunction with the video preview, it provides a quick snapshot of brightness in your video.
• Vectorscope: Displays color saturation by channel across the entire image.
• Histograms: Includes RGB composite, luminance, zone, and RGB channel histograms.

Director mode solely provides a clean video preview, making it perfect for directors, producers, or crew members who need to remotely monitor the production.

Users have the flexibility to switch between modes dynamically to check analytics and composition. Additionally, Remote Legacy can be set up in "preview-only" mode, allowing camera operators to perform all controls from the device running Filmic Pro. This allows the Remote to be solely dedicated to monitoring.

Notes:

• The use of Filmic Remote on one iOS device requires simultaneous usage of Filmic Pro on an additional device. Both devices must be running iOS 13 or later.
• Filmic Remote connects to Filmic Pro using Wi-Fi, either on an established network or through a peer-to-peer network in areas without Wi-Fi coverage.
• Filmic Remote is only compatible with iPhones or iPads running Filmic Pro and does not have cross-platform compatibility.
